Open Educational Resources: A hands-on workshop

OER materials provide flexibility for faculty to design their courses and support student success by making course materials readily accessible to students, in addition to reducing student costs of education.

Bring your syllabus to this hands-on workshop and learn how to find and incorporate OER into your upcoming courses!

At the end of this workshop, successful participants will:

  • Identify OER repositories;
  • Identify potential open textbooks;
  • Discover different types of OER materials related to course objectives (open courseware, videos, syllabi, and other open learning objects);
  • Understand the distinctions between Copyright and Creative Commons;
  • Identify tools for evaluating and incorporating OER materials into Canvas.
