Library Disability Support Services

Touro College Library is committed to providing access to services and collections for all Library patrons. Library staff will assist patrons in obtaining access to the services and resources if they have special needs.

Research Assistance

Library patrons with special needs who require assistance with research or reference databases may ask at the Reference Desk for assistance. Users can also request assistance in ascertaining the availability of books and periodicals housed in the Touro College Libraries.

Retrieval of Library Materials

Users who have identified desired library materials but are unable to retrieve them from the shelving area or cabinets may request assistance at the Circulation Desk or the Reference Desk. Additionally, library staff can send library material from any library site to another site that is more convenient to the borrower.

Remote Access to Library Resources

Users may access the research databases and E-books remotely by obtaining a login and password from their library staff.

Extended Loan Periods

Extension of reserves or loan periods or modification of other lending rules on an individual basis will be provided when possible. Reference librarians will also assist in obtaining needed materials from other libraries through interlibrary loans.

Orientation Tours

Library staff will provide disabled library patrons with personalized library orientations.

Photocopy Services

Library staff can provide assistance with photocopying, including enlarging text. Patrons are responsible for all copier charges.

Physical Access

Most Touro College libraries are elevator and wheelchair accessible.

Facilities

Computer workstations are leveled to give wheelchair accessibility.
