Welcome

Thank you for visiting our Library online. Our mission is to foster intellectual discovery by providing resources and services that support and promote the College's academic programs. We also advance information literacy, the basis of lifelong learning, by helping the College community acquire and refine information seeking and evaluation skills. A competent support staff led by qualified professionals who understand teaching and research is key to the accomplishment of this two-fold mission. For information on how material is selected to support instruction, consult our Collection Development Policy and Guidelines on Donations. For how we promote information seeking and evaluation as an integrated part of the College experience, read about our Information Literacy initiative.
Our libraries, located in metropolitan New York, on Long Island, in Los Angeles, and on Miami Beach have collections totaling 183,700 items. The collections include subscriptions to 550 print journals, proprietary databases with almost 100,000 ebooks and over 56,000 ejournals. The gateway to our collections and services is this Web site which is outlined on our Site Map.
Resources in support of the curriculum can be found in all our libraries. Background and research materials are located in the Midwood, Midtown, Women's Building, Kew Gardens Hills, and Bay Shore libraries. Material at Touro is shared by intra-library loan. Material not at Touro is obtained by inter-library loan via OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) and LVIS (Libraries Very Interested in Sharing). Referrals to METRO (Metropolitan New York Library Council) or LILRC (Long Island Library Resources Council) libraries may be made where resources can be consulted on-site.
